The creation of Mathématiqueer came from a need to resist LGBTQIA+phobic discrimination in the world of Mathematics. This grassroots project arises from a desire to act, meet each other, and organize, where previously we had been isolated and had lacked the ability to help others who experienced discrimination.

Goals:
The goal of Mathématiqueer is to help queer people in mathematics and computer science to meet each other and organize, as well as giving them a platform and a voice. Mathématiqueer also shares relevant resources.

Audience:
Mathématiqueer is a website by LGBTQIA+ people for LGBTQIA+ people and allies in the world of Mathematics, Computer Science and Academia.

Types of content:

Commitment and Values
We are conscious that LGBTQIA+phobic discrimination is part of a global system of domination. Wanting to help every queer person, we would like to be explicit about our commitments, values and aspirations: to go against any system of discimination, exploitation and domination.

We try to be as independent as possible from structures based on exploitation We advocate for radical inclusion We encourage a collaborative organization We recognize the political context in which we live We can then summarize our approach as aspiring to be Anti-LGBTQIA+phobia, Anti-Capitalist, Anti-Racist, Anti-Colonialist, Anti-Ableist, Feminist and collaborative.

Website 05/16/2025

April 26th, 2025 marks the creation of the Mathématiqueer website, inspired by a website listing Geometric group theory conferences. We wanted to create an easily accessible database of Mathematics and Computer Science conferences about/linked to LGBTQIA+ topics. But why stop here? This website is also a space to share resources about supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals in research and mathematics, and avoiding discriminations. It could also be a platform to share other ideas about our project of a queer network in mathematics and computer science. This is how the website took its current shape. I am very enthusiastic, while writing this paragraph, to see this project starting to come together. I hope the website will progressively fill with more conferences, many resources, and portraits of queer mathematicians. I also hope it could provide a platform for expression for queer people in mathematics and computer science, in particular through articles.
